Three companies bring their technologies together

Something is coming up for layer-likers: Shaping specialists Krüger & Salecker, chocolate machine professionals LCM, and dosing technology experts Nera Technologies have teamed up to offer a compact production line for multi-layered products like pralines and protein bars.

Measuring just under eight meters in length, this innovative line will be showcased by Krüger & Salecker at ProSweets Cologne. With a working width of 300 mm this compact line is perfectly tailored to meet modern market demands.

“We first presented the line at an in-house trade show in September. The technologies are seamlessly integrated, the interfaces work flawlessly, and the feedback was very positive,” says Sören Bettex, Managing Director of Krüger & Salecker. "This line produces high-quality products in minimal space, perfectly aligned with current market trends."

The shaping of the base layer is powered by Krüger & Salecker’s MFT technology. “The molding process ensures a perfect bottom layer, precisely calibrated for the subsequent steps,” explains Bettex. The MFT system also enables the integration of cavities directly into the product base, which allows for the easy application of a second layer of liquid or other materials.

“Using different consistencies makes multi-layered products highly appealing to consumers. The precise workflow of this line ensures the consistent production of top-quality products,” adds Bettex.

The top layer is dosed using Nera Technologies’ One-Shot NeraOne casting machine. Its autonomous dosing units, featuring adjustable nozzle spacing, offer unparalleled flexibility. The chocolate coating is applied by LCM, a globally renowned manufacturer of tempering and enrobing machines. As with the other two project partners, LCM is an owner-managed company. The line features LCM’s 320 ATC enrobing machine, equipped with fully automatic, continuous circulation tempering and a coating width of 320 mm. One of the standout features of the line is its modularity. Each of the three machines can be detached and operated independently. For instance, NeraOne can be used as a standalone unit to directly deposit onto a cooling conveyor or for one-shot molded pralines.

“With just a few adjustments, the machines can be combined or used separately,” explains Joel Tschannen, Managing Director of Nera Technologies. "Together, they enable the simple production of highly sophisticated products. This kind of flexibility is exactly what small-scale manufacturers need.” “LCM has worked successfully with K&S and Nera on individual projects in the past. Now, we’re expanding our collaboration,” says Markus Wiedenmann, Managing Director of LCM. He emphasises that the partnership with Krüger & Salecker and Nera Technologies offers customers access to cutting-edge technologies that optimise production processes while meeting the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

To further enhance the production line, it can be complemented with an LCM cooling tunnel. Sales of the compact line will be handled centrally by Krüger & Salecker, giving customers a single point of contact for the entire project.
