Companies benefit from new technologies that not only increase efficiency but also protect and maintain employee health. Efficient work processes are essential to reduce costs, save time, and improve product quality. However, an often overlooked aspect is workplace ergonomics, which contributes to the employees health. Back pain is the most common cause of long absences worldwide.
In the packaging industry, traditional processes often require frequent bending and lifting, which can lead to long-term health problems. The Bavaria-based ErgoPack Deutschland GmbH has developed a revolutionary solution for this. Their patented chain lance allows the strap to be guided around the pallet and returned to the user via joystick control. This enables the user to perform the entire strapping process in an upright position. With over 25 years of experience, ErgoPack has established itself as a global supplier and has already delivered more than 20,000 systems to customers from various industries.
In addition to the health benefits, the ErgoPack system also offers technical improvements. It prevents the strap from twisting during the packaging process. A twisted strap could reduce the tensile strength by up to 30%, which would compromise the safety of the loading unit.
ErgoPack is also increasingly focusing on sustainable solutions in the packaging industry. In addition to the existing product range, the new strapping system "ErgoPack RE" was presented for the first time at ProSweets 2024 and was enthusiastically received by the audience. Instead of conventional plastic straps, this system uses durable velcro straps that can be reused up to 10,000 times. The integrated device for automated winding and unwinding eliminates the need for tedious manual preparation of the bands.
The advantages are obvious: The use of Velcro straps not only significantly reduces plastic waste but also doubles the strapping process speed compared to traditional methods. "Especially in intralogistics, where huge amounts of goods are moved daily, this time saving is a crucial factor for productivity. At the same time, companies make an important contribution to reducing their ecological footprint," says Witali Neumann, Managing Director at ErgoPack Deutschland.
"We see it as our responsibility not only to increase efficiency in logistics but also to drive sustainable change," emphasises Boris Schulze, Head of Direct Sales at ErgoPack. Thus, the vision of an environmentally conscious and at the same time more productive packaging world is becoming increasingly tangible. ErgoPack shows how modern technology and consideration for employee health can go hand in hand.
