QimiQ Handels GmbH sells a patented cream base under the name QimiQ and is constantly developing new fresh and convenience products for retail and industry. The company has six production sites in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Japan and Australia and exports to 38 countries.


The Hof near Salzburg, Austria-based family-operated com­pany QimiQ Handels GmbH has been selling a patented cream base under the QimiQ brand to wholesalers and retailers for more than 20 years. QimiQ also develops fresh and convenience products for retail and industry as well as holistic food concepts for hotels, restaurants and catering companies. QimiQ is the world‘s first cream base for cooking and baking and is ideal for hot and cold as well as savoury and sweet cuisine. QimiQ is a natural product and consists of 99% cream and 1% edible gelatine (beef). The milk used for processing comes exclusively from cows in the Salzburg region. The 1% gelatine ensures that the product remains stable, making it easier to prepare. In addition to QimiQ Classic, QimiQ Classic Vanilla, QimiQ Cream Base and QimiQ Whip, the company also produces QimiQ Marinade Base for marinating fish, meat and seafood, QimiQ Base for butter sauce, QimiQ Tiramisu and QimiQ Mirror Glaze.

All products are developed in-house and are free from gluten, palm oil and GMOs. QimiQ has six production sites in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Japan and Australia and exports to 38 countries worldwide. The company has successfully established itself in this country and has been honoured several times with the prestigious ICD Award and Mercury Award. The products also bear the AMA seal of quality for sustainable production.

In 2020, in addition to its retail and wholesale offerings, the company ­also launched a B2B line under the QiQ brand name, which has been developing very successfully ever since. In the industry, QimiQ supplies production companies such as bakeries, delicatessen and convenience food manufacturers and system catering. ”We have been exporting to Asia for over 15 years due to the increase in tourism and the associated rise in demand for the Western standard of living and cream cakes. In Hong Kong, for example, it is used for cream cakes. There is no comparable product in the world that promises such ­reliable results. These factors point to a promising market in Asia,” said Michele R. Haindl, Marketing & Sales Manager at QimiQ.
