ErgoPack: a revolution for the logistics industry

A packaging innovation sets new standards in intralogistics. Efficient work processes are undoubtedly of crucial importance for every company, as costs can be reduced, time saved and product quality optimised. One important factor must not be forgotten: the health of employees.

If this is neglected, the result is frequent sick leave. Back pain is the number one cause, often caused or worsened by a lack of ergonomics in the workplace. Typically, bending and lifting in traditional packaging methods puts strain on the back, which leads to long-term health problems. ErgoPack Deutschland GmbH, based in Bavaria, makes bending down during the strapping process a thing of the past. The machine's specially designed Chain Lance automatically brings the strapping band around the pallet and back to the user, and the entire application can be carried out in an upright position.

The use of an ErgoPack not only has a positive effect on the health of the user. Using the system ensures that the strapping does not twist during the packaging process. This prevents a loss of tensile strength of up to 30 % – which would otherwise be a fatal error in securing the load unit. "We can eliminate this risk. By maintaining an upright posture during the strapping process, we also reduce the risk of strapping personnel being overlooked by forklift traffic," adds Witali Neumann, Managing Director at ErgoPack.

The use of the strapping machine also saves a significant amount of time. The strapping process is twice as fast as with the manual method and makes a significant contribution to optimising productivity in the entire logistics process. The company has now set itself the task of working more intensively on sustainable solutions in the packaging industry. The team has developed a globally unique product innovation that is revolutionising the packaging process and intralogistics as a whole. This is particularly important with regard to the current hot topic of zero waste and the use of environmentally friendly materials.

The revolutionary ErgoPack RE strapping system and the already established product range were very well received by the audience at this year's ProSweets Cologne trade fair. Instead of conventional plastic strapping, the new system works with high-performance Velcro straps that can be reused up to 10,000 times. Thanks to an integrated device for automated winding and unwinding of the tapes, the new machine is in no way inferior to the familiar models."With our ErgoPack RE, strapping is not only much quicker, but there is also no packaging waste," says Neumann."Particularly in areas such as intralogistics, where enormous quantities of goods are transported, this not only has a positive impact on productivity, but also on the environment."If each package is bundled several times with plastic tape or wrapped in film, tonnes of plastic waste are quickly produced. The reusable Velcro straps ensure that the ecological footprint can be significantly minimised.
