Nagel-Group doubles logistics capacities

The company is launching an expansion and modernisation project in Hamburg. Germany's largest food logistics company will completely restructure the site in Allermöhe. In addition to the construction of a new transshipment warehouse, the storage capacities will be modernised and expanded. More than 60 million euros will be invested in this major project. In Allermöhe, the Nagel-Group currently operates on a 33,000 m2 site, and the site size is now expanding to more than 70,000 m2. Logistics capacities will also double, with approximately 18,000 pallet storage spaces available in the future. "Now we are giving the starting signal for the construction of an ultra-modern logistics complex," said Marion Nagel, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, at the laying of the foundation stone, which marked the official start of construction.

Nuts, spices or fish arrive in Hamburg from China, India, Vietnam or Colombia, and the logistics company ships cheese and chocolate for its customers to the Middle East, Australia or the USA. "We use the seaport for global imports and exports. Hamburg is already one of our three largest outbound locations," said Marion Nagel. The comprehensive modernisation and expansion is part of the largest investment programme in the company's history. "We will invest up to 1 billion euros by 2032," said Carsten Taucke, CEO of the Nagel-Group. Hamburg is among the most extensive projects to be implemented. "In the process, we have also clearly committed ourselves to the topic of sustainability: We are investing in state-of-the-art refrigeration systems, will build photovoltaic plants and are developing concepts for more sustainable delivery," he explains further.
