ChoViva: strong brands on board

The Planet A Foods brand for chocolatey enjoyment on the high-quality basis of oats and sunflower seeds is available in the three new Kölln oat mueslis, the #VeganChocstars: the vegan varieties Crunchy Waffle, Crunchy Hazel and Crunchy Berry contain the innovation ChoViva instead of chocolate containing cocoa. Since October, the chocolate alternative has also been available on the biscuit market: Cereola with ChoViva from De Beukelaer. The crispy Cereola biscuits are coated with ChoViva to round off this variety.

ChoViva has a melt-in-the-mouth character and is much more sustainable than conventional chocolate. Instead of relying on cocoa beans, ChoViva uses regional oats and sunflower seeds. The secret of the taste lies in the innovative and patented production process. Dr Sara Marquart, Co-Founder and CTO, explains: "The taste and flavour of chocolate comes from fermentation and roasting, not from the raw cocoa bean itself. By processing oats and sunflower seeds in a similar way to cocoa, ChoViva gets a chocolatey aroma and flavour profile without any cocoa at all."

Through the shorter supply routes and the avoidance of rainforest clearances, Planet A Foods is building an alternative supply chain that reduces dependence on cocoa from tropical regions. As a result, ChoViva's production uses up to 94% less water and produces up to 90% less CO2 than conventional chocolate production.

Dr Sara Marquart says of what Planet A Foods has achieved in just 2.5 years of development: "We have managed to industrialise the production of our ChoViva in a very short time and produce 750 kg per hour of IFS certified ChoViva in our own factory in Pilsen for our B2B customers."

Planet A Foods will have a stand for the first time at this year's fair. CEO and Co-Founder Maximilian Marquart comments: "We can offer the chocolate processing industry a high-quality, price-competitive and sustainable alternative to chocolate. We have booked a stand at Food Ingredients Europe to introduce the range to more international industry partners."

During the fair, visitors will be able to taste different variants of ChoViva and experience the exceptional quality and taste.
