Futamura Ltd, a leading global supplier of cellulose films and nonwovens, is currently making a major investment in a new production line at its European manufacturing facility. The company is doing this to meet the increasing demand for its NatureFlex compostable films which are derived from renewable cellulose and are used for packaging confectionery as well as bakery and snack products, among others.

Demand for eco-friendly, sustainable products is consistently boosting sales for the company’s flagship packaging solution, which was launched 20 years ago. The new casting system is expected to increase the site’s production capacity by around 25 %, reduce delivery times and increase the volume of film that can be supplied. According to the company, his additional casting line is not comparable to conventional plastic processing machines, as it is not a catalogue item, but a customized system.
