Walterwerk: small wafer – big taste

Walterwerk Kiel is an established manufacturer of ice cream cone baking systems. The wafer cone was long regarded as a classic product for ice cream, but it is now also finding its way into the confectionery sector. The combination of chocolate and crunchy sweet waffle is becoming increasingly popular. According to Walter, the demand for wafer baking systems for the confectionery sector is growing steadily. The mini cones - 60 to 65 mm small wafer cones – have been filled with chocolate for some time now. But they can be even smaller! "Our customers are increasingly asking for ice cream cone tips that they want to fill," explains Markus Bartels, Managing Directors at Walter. "The simple reason for this is that many consumers see the chocolate-filled tip of their Cornetto ice cream as a highlight. So why not offer these toppers ready-made?" says Bartels. Walter now offers systems for the very small wafer tips. The micro cones are only 35 to 45 mm in size and can be transferred in an organised manner for filling. To make them look like the broken-off tip of the ice cream cone, Walter has developed its own component for shortening the cone. The advantage is that it is sold in bulk for snacking in stand-up pouches.
