World fair with a large programme

Visitors to the iba can look forward to the industry’s latest innovations and enjoy the opportunity to exchange info with other experts from the industry. The trade fair in Munich from October 22nd to the 26th additionally offers a wide-ranging events programme featuring numerous workshops, seminars and presentations on current issues.

The world’s leading trade fair for the baking, confectionery and snacks industry is set to open its gates as an international meeting point for experts from our industry at the convention site in Bavaria’s capital city for five days with ten exhibition halls. October 2023 is all about the iba, so as such it’s about innovative power, diverse product and services portfolios, quality, international market relevance, new contacts and the transfer of knowledge. The focus is on the iba.TOPICS, consisting from 2023 onwards of the accustomed product ranges and the newly introduced focus themes Food Trends, Handcrafting, Health & Sustainability, Digitalisation, Complete Solutions and Quality Assurance. These themes illustrate the industry’s most important trends, unite supply & demand, and focus our eyes on the future. They are the common thread running through the event, and they are reflected at the iba in presentations, themed areas and product offers.

Smell, taste, feel and be amazed: The ten halls at the site invite you to experience and consult with visitors to the production chain from A to Z in the wake of live product and machinery demonstrations. The iba.UIBC CUP in Hall A4 is yet another experience where interested parties can follow the exhibition in real time and look over the shoulders of expert bakers as they prepare baking masterpieces. And if this inspires you to try your own hand at this craft, then you should visit the iba.ACADEMY, where participants learn how to make true original German fruit breads and pretzels and receive a diploma upon completing the course.

Along with a variety of competitions and themed areas, the iba also hosts numerous highlights for the baking industry, including the iba.Start up area supported by Puratos. In Hall A4, the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs demonstrate how they are revolutionising the baking landscape. Acclaimed experts round out the programme with keynote speeches on issues that move our industry.

This new themed area makes the fair a driving engine for young, up-and-coming companies, and presents the latest trends from the start-up sector. Michael Wippler, President of the Central Trade Association of the German Baking Industry comments, “Domestic and international start-ups from the entire baking industry are given their own stage with the iba.Start up area. It is a major priority for us to promote the next generation and to provide them with the proper space for presentation, exchange and new ideas.”

The optics and substance of the new iba.Start up area in Hall A4 will be designed with Puratos, the leading ingredients supplier for the bakery, patisserie and chocolate industry. Puratos CMO Sophie Blum comments, “Our partnership with iba reflects Puratos’ dedication to promoting an innovative culture and creating a platform for promising start-ups to present their solutions. Our support for these start‑ups demonstrates not only our interest in their success, but also in the long-term, sustainable success of our industry as a whole.”

2023’s iba will also feature awards presentations for innovations and developments from the baking, confectionery and snacks industry, including the 2023 iba.UIBC.CUP of Confectioners.
