As already announced by Dr Bernhard Reichenbach in issue 7-8/2023, there has been a change in the editorial team: From now on, I will be guiding you through the sweet world and the world behind it. A challenging task lies ahead of me and I am very much looking forward to the exchange with you. Some of you have already met me at ISM, ProSweets or interpack. Now the next fairs are coming up and that brings us to the content of this issue. It is very much about iba − the leading trade fair for the bakery industry, where we take an in-depth look, for example, at beam, a company that offers a hygiene solution, at kowa, which offers camera-controlled image processing solutions, or at Brunner, which is dedicated to hollow figures. The range of offerings is extremely diverse in Munich, that is why a visit is always worthwhile.

In addition, you will find proven content from the packaging industry such as from Metsä Board and Somic as well as a report from the Packaging Valley focus group marketing event at member company Stako GmbH Maschinenbau. However, new topics will also be addressed: The article from the International Food Standard is about PIA, which means Product Integrity Assessment. You will now find this kind of content more often in the magazine. As a food chemist, these topics fascinate me very much.

To conclude my first editorial, I would like to return to the beginning: As already mentioned there, the exchange with you is extremely important to me, and I cordially ask you to seek talks with me. So do not hesitate.
