Gelita has launched Confixx, a particularly fast-acting gelatine. It allows the starch-free production of functional fruit gums with a sensory profile that could previously only be achieved with the classic mogul process using starch. The product makes it easier for manufacturers of fortified gummies to use different ingredients and active substances. At the same time, production processes can be simplified and costs reduced. The texture of the fruit gums is exactly what consumers expect from gelatine-based products.
The switch to starch-free production with Confixx enables manufacturers of functional fruit gums to significantly increase efficiency. The long drying phase of the products is eliminated, as is the reprocessing of the starch used. This reduces the production time from about two days to a few hours. At the same time, the starch-free process requires less air-conditioned storage space and thus less energy. The starch-free process with Confixx also allows GMP-compliant production. By using silicone or hard plastic moulds, which are easy to clean, a recontamination-free and quick change of production batches with different active ingredients is possible.
According to the producer, innovative companies also benefit from the simplified process, which enables smaller production quantities, more flexible product changes and better control of active ingredient dosage. Confixx's high tolerance to formulation changes also facilitates the development of new variants. Active ingredients can be added before or after the cooking process, depending on the manufacturer’s wishes. Due to the low pouring and holding temperatures of the gelatine, heat-sensitive ingredients can be processed efficiently.
