The technology group GEA is investing in its site in Biedenkopf-Wallau/Germany. The official ground-breaking ceremony for an approximately 1,500 m2 technology centre took place recently. At the site, machines from the entire “Slicing & Packaging” business unit from Wallau, Kempten/Germany and Weert/Netherlands will be available to the food industry for a variety of uses. The extension and new building will integrate a 500 m2 climate-controlled hall, which will be coolable down to freezing point. The technology centre will also open up new training opportunities for employees and customers. More than EUR 2 m has been budgeted for the construction work, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2023.
Individual machines and complete, highly digitalized production lines will be on display in the exhibition area, and the business unit’s entire product portfolio will be available. This includes technically complex thermoforming and vertical packaging machines as well as fast-working cutting and loading systems. In addition, this business unit offers solutions for the production and packaging of lollipops as well as other confectionery and food products.
