The corona virus has been spreading worldwide since March 2020 and has far-reaching effects on people and the economy. We have seen producers in the consumer goods industry revise their hygiene concepts and question production processes. One of the customers of LCM Schokoladenmaschinen GmbH in Grünkraut-Gullen/Germany approached the company with the request to equip the cooling section in front of the chocolate coating in a new cooling tunnel to reduce germs.
“We are always happy when we receive customer requirements that challenge us, and so UV lamps are now available for all LCM cooling tunnels for safe disinfection in the production process,” explains Managing Partner Markus Leute. “The UV lamps can be installed in all new cooling tunnels that work with the principle of convection cooling. The UV modules are installed in the air flow like a disinfection grille. Thanks to the homogeneous distribution, the UV lamps work evenly and efficiently throughout the cooling tunnel”.
Why should customers consider installing UV lamps? In all cooling tunnels, the active principle of cooling automatically leads to condensation on the cooling fins. Over time, not only suspended matter from production but also germs and micro-organisms are deposited there. These can be released into the cold air of the cooling tunnel by the air flow during the cooling process. In addition to the necessary regular cleaning of the cooling fins, which is essential for clean and hygienic cooling with a cooling tunnel, the UV lamps support compliance with higher hygiene standards in production facilities. The entry of germs through the external supply air or the distribution of microorganisms can be prevented by up to 99 % by UV barriers in the air duct.
