The Barry Callebaut AG has published the first “Forever Chocolate” progress report. It details the progress of the journey kicked off a year ago when Barry Callebaut launched its new sustainability strategy with the ambition of moving sustainable chocolate from niche to norm by 2025. The plan is based on four ambitious targets that address the largest sustainability challenges in the chocolate supply chain. lift more than 500,000 cocoa farmers out of poverty; eradicate child labor; become carbon and forest positive; have 100 % sustainable ingredients in all its products.
In addition, Patrick De Maeseneire, Chairman of the Board of Directors, was reelected by the attendees of the ordinary Annual General Meeting 2017. The meeting also elected Elio Leoni Sceti as new Board member. The Board of Directors also honoured the two Board members who had decided to step down: Andreas Schmid, who retired after 20 years on the Board, of which six years as Chairman, hree years as CEO, and nine years as Vice-Chairman, and Wai Ling Liu, member of the Board since 2014. All other Board members were reelected for another term of office of one year.
