Study shows Beneo’s Palatinose™ stimulates the release of GLP-1 in overweight adults

A new study demonstrates that intake of the naturally sourced, smart carbohydrate Palatinose™ stimulates the release of beneficial gut hormones including GLP-1 in overweight adults The findings show that Palatinose™ (isomaltulose) positively affects metabolic parameters important for maintaining a healthy body weight, blood glucose control, and cardiovascular health. GLP-1 reduces appetite and weight gain. Drugs mimicking GLP-1 are used to treat Type 2 diabetes and are gaining interest as weight loss drugs. The study shows that Palatinose™ enhances the body's own GLP-1 release. A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover study with 30 overweight/obese volunteers (aged 49-77, half with Type 2 diabetes) monitored hormone levels after consuming 50g isomaltulose or sucrose. Those who consumed isomaltulose had higher GLP-1 levels. The study confirms that Palatinose™ promotes hormone release even before complex meals. Dr. Stephan Theis highlights its relevance for clinical nutrition and product development for weight and blood glucose management. Scientific evidence supports structure/function claims in the USA like “Palatinose™ supports an increased release of GLP-1.
