Airflow boards: the best moulding solution for mogul-lines

Deltavorm specializes in the design and production of moulds for mogul-lines. At the recent ProSweets Cologne, the company presented its latest innovation: Airflow boards. These are Deltavorm‘s answer to the ever stronger demand for higher tray yield and, at the same time, higher quality end-products.

The basic idea behind the Airflow board is simple. The mogul-lines repetitive movement of pushing the moulds into the starch and releasing it out of the starch is crucial. The better the air can flow through the mouldboard during this repetitive movement, the more quiet the starch lays in the tray and the better the impressions reflect the shape of the mould – resulting in better looking products. Airflow boards make the board as open as possible in order to optimize this important airflow.

The only way to improve this airflow is to optimize the mouldboard specifically for the product made with it. The picture shows the concept of the Airflow board: the mouldboard follows the outline of the mould (1), a stainless steel wire mesh (2) separates mould and board, a spacer (3) enables the air to flow and the optimized pattern of ribs enable the correct stiffness, strength and durability. Each mould is fastened with stainless steel screws (4) on torque with locking agent.

Deltavorm spent more than two years developing special software to be able to quickly, accurately and economically make such a complex design. Every board is an optimized and unique solution for the specific product at hand, which meets all the requirements of the producer and takes into account all the relevant local parameters. The first production tests have revealed significant gains in productivity and quality. Customers welcomed the easy handling and maintenance and more importantly, reported a significant reduction of waste and rejected end-products and on the other hand a substantial increase of production yield. It is this combination of high-quality production and high output that makes the Airflow boards the best moulding investment for high-volume products.
